Note - The 9th edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica was printed by several publishers, often in various years, as the Editors prepared additional volumes. The Stoddart version is, in our opinion, far superior to the several other publishers of the same volumes. Each publisher was evidently permitted to vary the content a bit, and the Stoddart illustrations are comparatively superb!
